Rotorcraft Vehicle Application

This diagram showcases how Delta Digital Video’s Model 7840R 4-Channel H.265 Rugged Video Encoder is deployed in rotorcraft applications to manage and distribute video data from multiple sensor payloads in real time. The system architecture also integrates the Ampex TuffLITE® recorder, providing secure, SWaP-C optimized video storage at the tactical edge.

Sensor feeds are ingested over composite/SDI video inputs with metadata, then encoded using H.265 compression and streamed over TS/UDP. All system components interface across an aircraft Ethernet network, including the mission computer, display systems, data link, and onboard video recorder. The 1PPS GPS receiver synchronizes timing, while metadata and control signals ensure precise coordination across the platform.

This setup supports tactical ISR operations, crew situational awareness, and data dissemination both onboard and offboard, all while remaining within tight SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost) constraints required in rotorcraft environments.

Key Features:

  • Rugged 4-channel H.265 video encoder (Model 7840R)
  • Multi-sensor video ingestion with metadata
  • 1PPS GPS synchronization for mission accuracy
  • Streams compressed TS/UDP to displays, recorders, and data links
  • Interfaces with aircraft network and mission computer
  • Built for high-vibration, rotary-wing operational conditions

Application Scenarios:

  • Crew situational awareness: Displays live sensor feeds to onboard crew.
  • Tactical data sharing: Real-time streaming to ground teams or command via data link.
  • Flight test instrumentation: Record and analyze performance across all onboard sensors.
  • Mission debrief: Store all video data locally for playback and after-action review.
