Ground Vehicle Sensor Data Application
This diagram illustrates a rugged video encoding and distribution system designed for integration into a military ground vehicle platform. A multi-channel sensor payload delivers up to eight simultaneous composite or SDI video streams with metadata to the Model 6880R Multi-Channel Encoder. The system is synchronized via 1PPS from a GPS Receiver, ensuring time-aligned metadata tagging across all incoming video channels.
Once compressed, the video is sent as transport stream over UDP (TS/UDP) onto the vehicle’s internal Ethernet network, making it available to several mission-critical endpoints:
- A Mission Computer interfaces for control, metadata exchange, and potential processing tasks.
- A Display Unit receives live TS/UDP video streams for real-time situational awareness.
- A Data Link system enables remote transmission of video to external command centers.
- A Recorder, such as the Ampex TuffCORD, captures all streams for forensic review and mission debrief.
This system ensures high-fidelity video acquisition, transmission, and archival in a compact, rugged form factor ideal for harsh vehicle environments.
Key Features:
- 8-channel video encoding with synchronized metadata inputs
- Ruggedized multi-stream H.264 encoder (Model 6880R Encoder)
- Supports composite and SDI inputs with audio/data overlay
- 1PPS GPS sync for precise timing and frame tagging
- UDP-based transport stream output for real-time network distribution
- Modular integration with displays, recorders, and mission computers
Application Scenarios:
- Reconnaissance & Surveillance Vehicles: Stream and record multiple camera feeds for perimeter awareness, convoy protection, or ISR.
- Armored Command Vehicles: Share real-time video feeds with operators, commanders, and remote command centers.
- Electronic Warfare Platforms: Ingest and route visual sensor data for fusion with EW payloads.
