Airborne Manned Systems

This application diagram illustrates how Delta Digital Video encoders support airborne manned system video architectures. A sensor payload captures composite or SDI video with embedded metadata, which is routed to a 7840R rugged encoder. The encoder synchronizes with external 1PPS/GPS timing to ensure accurate frame tagging and metadata alignment.
Once encoded, the video is transmitted as a transport stream over UDP (TS/UDP) across the aircraft’s internal data backbone (A/C Network) to multiple downstream systems:
-
- A Mission Computer receives metadata and provides control input to the encoder.
-
- A Data Link transmits clocked video data offboard in real-time for live monitoring.
-
- An onboard Recorder, like the Ampex TuffLITE Recorder, stores encoded video streams for post-mission analysis.
This setup supports time-aligned video distribution and recording under harsh airborne conditions while allowing flexible routing across onboard systems. Alternative encoder models such as the 6880R, 7805R, 7825R, and 5480E may also be configured depending on platform requirements.
