At InfoComm 2026, Delta Digital Video highlighted the next generation of its 5480 encoder and decoder family, built to support modern video-over-IP workflows across AV, broadcast, control room, and mission-critical environments.
As video systems continue to move across IP networks, teams need reliable ways to encode, transport, decode, and display high-quality video with the right balance of image quality, bandwidth efficiency, and low-latency performance. That need shows up in many environments, from broadcast and professional AV systems to operations centers, command spaces, law enforcement applications, and military video workflows.
The Model 5480E UHD/HD/SD Video Encoder supports the front end of the video path. It is designed to compress UHD, HD, and SD video for transmission over IP networks, helping convert cameras and A/V equipment into Ethernet-compatible devices. The 5480E also supports uncompressed video streaming, giving teams flexibility based on their network, quality, and latency requirements.
On the display side, the Model 5480D UHD/HD/SD Video Decoder is designed to decompress UHD, HD, and SD video for video-over-IP applications. It converts compressed and uncompressed video streams back to their original or scaled formats for display, making it a strong fit for remote monitoring, control room, and multi-source video environments.
A key highlight from InfoComm 2026 was the 5480D’s quad-display output capability. The 5480D can combine up to four incoming streams into one 4K output for multi-feed viewing on a single display. This can reduce the number of decoder paths needed and simplify system design in environments where operators need to keep multiple video sources in view at once.
This capability is especially useful for control rooms, broadcast monitoring, command centers, security environments, law enforcement applications, military programs, and other workflows where multiple video feeds need to be viewed clearly and efficiently.
Together, the 5480E and 5480D create a complete encode/decode path for modern video systems. Video can be captured and encoded at the source, moved across an IP network, decoded at the destination, and displayed in a format operators can actually use.
For AV, broadcast, and mission-critical video workflows, the 5480 encoder/decoder family gives teams a practical way to move, manage, and display high-quality video without overcomplicating the system.
