Ground Station Processing Application

DDV Ground Station Processing Application

When a UAV transmits live video, ground teams need that footage available immediately for monitoring, analysis, and decision-making. The ground station must decode the incoming stream, display it for operators, and connect it with downstream Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (PED) and archive systems.

Delta Digital Video’s Ground Station Processing architecture uses the Model 7850 Multichannel Video Decoder to receive transport streams through Ethernet or synchronous serial PCM clock and data interfaces. The 7850 decodes up to four H.265 or H.264 HD/SD video streams simultaneously and delivers low-latency video to local displays through HD-SDI or HDMI outputs.

Ethernet connectivity allows the 7850 to integrate with the ground control station network and support downstream PED and archive workflows. This provides operators with real-time video while keeping mission footage available to the systems responsible for further analysis, distribution, and storage.

Key Features:

    • Real-time decoding of up to four HD or SD video streams
    • H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC support up to 1080p60
    • Ethernet or synchronous serial PCM clock and data inputs
    • 50 ms decode latency for real-time operator viewing
    • MPEG-2 transport-stream support through Ethernet or synchronous serial PCM interfaces
    • HD-SDI or HDMI outputs for local ground station displays
    • MISB/STANAG-compliant metadata support
    • Integration with network-connected PED and archive systems

Application Scenarios:

    • UAV ground control stations
    • Mobile and deployable ISR processing systems
    • Networked PED architectures
    • Remote video terminals and operator displays
    • Flight test ground stations
    • Real-time video monitoring and archiving
